ITEC Employment as a panel member for the Australian Government’s Innovation Fund is working with community in the development of innovative employment projects, to find better ways of connecting disadvantaged job seekers with training and work opportunities. Projects focus on helping job seekers experiencing barriers to employment, including people with mental health conditions, the homeless or those at risk of homelessness and people from jobless families.

Projects could involve:

• working with health providers, drug and alcohol programs, schools, cultural organisations, local government and other services
• linking disadvantaged job seekers with areas where skills are in demand.
• establishing social enterprises.

Strong working partnerships are a key feature of the fund, and anything learned from these successful projects will be shared to help improve service delivery
