Indigenous Employment Program Panel Member
ITEC Employment has successfully delivered employment and related services to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in both mainstream and the most remote communities in Australia. In remote Australia there are many issues affecting the capacity of jobseekers to obtain and remain in sustainable employment. Our understanding of the non-vocational issues of remote Indigenous people is extensive and not only includes the barriers but also the strategies and interventions with which they may be addressed. While we understand the needs of urban jobseekers, our effectiveness in achieving employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians has long been recognised and in 2001 we received the DEEWR NAIDOC award for promoting Indigenous employment. Through this experience we have been selected as a member for the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) Panel to provide services to Indigenous Australians by:
- Equipping employers with the skills, knowledge and expertise necessary to provide sustainable employment opportunities
- Preparing our remote jobseekers to take up training and employment opportunities, stay in jobs and enhance their future employment prospects
