Mentoring

ITEC Employment can also arrange mentors to assist your new employee to make a smooth transition into employment. Mentoring offers the presence of a role model who offers support, advice and positive reinforcement to the new employee. The number of ways mentoring can help an individual are as varied as the individuals themselves. Employee needs can be work related or of a personal nature which in turn can affect their employment. Issues and barriers may be identified by our experienced staff prior to placement or by our supportive Post Placement Support team after the person has been placed. Examples of what a mentor may help a jobseeker with include:
- Career mapping and guidance,
- Guidance in healthy living choices,
- Discussing personal issues such as:
- behavioural concerns,
- life skills,
- lack of self esteem, and
- inclusiveness within the community,
- Workplace issues such as motivation and application, time management, personal presentation, communication skills and lack of transport.
Following a thorough consultation process, a mentor will be assigned to the new employee with an agreed schedule of contact. ITEC Employment can either subsidise you for the cost and time associated or pay the appointed third party directly.
